Those Who Are Mystics in the World

The word mystic does not mean someone who possesses secret knowledge in order to stand above others. In its true spiritual meaning, a mystic is a person who has begun to enter the mystery of Divine Life. It is someone who no longer lives only for himself, but strives to live according to the Divine Will.

Since the beginning of human existence upon the earth, people have searched for a guide. They have looked for someone to show them the way when they become lost in life’s difficulties, doubts, and trials. Many turn to other people, to knowledge, to ideas, or to material supports. Yet none of these can lead a person completely into truth and inner peace.

Christ declares:

“I am the Guide of those who seek Me.”

These words reveal a profound spiritual truth. God is not a distant power or an impersonal principle. He is the Living Guide of the soul. He knows our past, our present, and our future. He knows our strengths, our weaknesses, and our true destiny.

Yet God becomes a Guide only for those who seek Him. He does not impose Himself. He does not abolish human freedom. He waits for the opening of the heart. He waits for the sincere desire of the soul to know Him and to follow His Will.

Divine Love is not reserved for a chosen few. Just as the sun shines upon all and the rain falls upon both the righteous and the unrighteous, so God’s Mercy extends to every human being.

God loves the saint, but He also loves the sinner. He loves the one who prays, but He also loves the one who has not yet learned how to pray. Patiently, He waits for every soul to turn toward Him.

Divine Mercy is God’s unceasing invitation to humanity. It is the hand extended to lift up the one who has fallen. It is the power that heals the wounds of the soul. It is the love that never becomes discouraged by human weakness.

If God is the Guide, then humanity is called to become the disciple.

A true disciple:

  • listens,
  • observes,
  • learns,
  • accepts correction,
  • and continues forward.

It is not enough merely to ask continually for help. One must also apply what is revealed. Divine Guidance becomes a living reality when it is accompanied by obedience to truth and by continual spiritual effort.

We must understand a deep spiritual truth: there are people who live in the world but work for something greater than the world. They are the mystics of truth, the workers of the Divine Plan, the souls who have dedicated their lives to seeking and revealing God.

True Initiation

Many believe that initiation means acquiring special knowledge or extraordinary powers. Yet true initiation is the transformation of the heart.

An initiated soul is one who:

  • learns to love without selfishness,
  • serves without asking for reward,
  • forgives without keeping accounts,
  • seeks truth even when it exposes personal faults,
  • surrenders himself to Divine Guidance.

The greatest initiation is not to know many things, but to become a bearer of Divine Light.

Mystics Live Within the World

This teaching reminds us that true spiritual people do not necessarily withdraw from the world. They live among others. They work, struggle, suffer, and face trials just like everyone else.

The difference lies in how they approach life.

While many see only outward events, the mystic seeks their deeper meaning. While many are carried away by fear, anxiety, or ambition, the mystic strives to remain turned toward God. He lives in the world without becoming enslaved by the spirit of the world.

The Work of Spiritual Laborers

In every age, God uses souls to bring His Light to humanity.

Some become teachers.

Some become comforters.

Some become living examples.

Others work quietly and unseen.

The outward position matters little. What matters is inner offering and service.

Often the greatest workers of God remain unknown. They do not seek fame or recognition. Their only desire is to serve the Divine Purpose.

Humility: The Seal of Initiation

One of the most important characteristics of a true mystic is humility.

The closer a person comes to Divine Light, the more he realizes how much remains to be learned.

He does not consider himself superior to others.

He does not seek admiration.

He does not boast about his knowledge or experiences.

He understands that every gift is from God and that without Divine Grace he can accomplish nothing.

Humility protects the soul from spiritual downfall.

The Responsibility of Knowledge

Whoever receives greater light also receives greater responsibility.

Knowledge that does not become life remains fruitless.

Teaching that is not practiced becomes a burden.

Truth that is not lived loses its power.

For this reason, the true disciple seeks not merely to learn, but to be transformed.

Every spiritual truth must become action.

Every prayer must become a way of life.

Every revelation must give birth to love.

The Inner Light

Gradually, the mystic discovers that the Kingdom of God is not outside him but within him.

Within the heart there is a sacred place where the soul can meet God.

There the voice of conscience is heard.

There peace is born.

There truth is revealed.

There Divine Grace is active.

Spiritual life is not an escape from the earth. It is the union of heaven with everyday life.

A Calling for Everyone

The call to initiation is a call addressed to every human being.

Every soul can advance.

Every heart can be purified.

Every person can become a bearer of light.

God does not demand perfection from the first moment. He asks for sincerity, willingness, and steadfast effort.

Step by step, a person is transformed.

Step by step, the old self is left behind.

Step by step, the new person of Christ is born within.

Those who are “mystics in the world” are people who have chosen to keep their hearts turned toward God while continuing to serve within the world. They are distinguished not by outward appearance, but by the light of their lives.

True initiation is the journey from selfishness to love, from confusion to truth, from human will to Divine Will. And as a person walks this path, he himself becomes a small light within the world, so that through his life Christ may be revealed—the one true Teacher and Mystic of the mysteries of Divine Life.

Prayer

Lord, become the Guide of my life.

Enlighten my mind, purify my heart, and teach me always to walk in the path of Love, Truth, and Your Holy Will.

I invoke Your Divine Grace, Infinite Logos of the Father-Mother, to protect and assist all the luminous souls upon this planet. May the network of their unity be activated through the Living Word, so that their spiritual strength may be multiplied.

May they draw the interventions of Divine Mercy into the reality of the world with greater immediacy, and may the power of Light’s action increase in the present time.

May Your Light prevail over darkness within the energetic balance of this planet, so that the time of transformation may come nearer and humanity may enter more fully into the path of resurrection and renewal.

May the center of human choices be moved away from profit and personal advantage, and toward the value of life, solidarity, respect, love, and selfless service.

AMEN.
