_{We Are More Than We Think We Are}

Most of us define ourselves by what we can see and understand.

We say:

“I am this body.”

“I am this personality.”

“I am my past.”

“I am what has happened to me.”

“I am what I can understand with my mind.”

But spiritual teaching asks us a deeper question:

Are you only what you presently believe yourself to be?

The human mind creates boundaries. Then, after living inside those boundaries for a long time, we begin to believe that they are reality itself.

The spiritual path begins when we become willing to move beyond these limits.

Not by rejecting our human life, but by discovering that our human life is part of something much greater.

Time and Space Are Part of Our Spiritual Training

We live in time.

We are born, we grow, we change, and one day the physical body dies.

We remember the past and imagine the future.

We also live in space. Our body is here and another person is somewhere else.

These experiences are real within ordinary human life. But the teachings ask us not to mistake our present experience for the whole truth of existence.

Time and space become part of our spiritual school.

They are conditions in which we learn.

They are not necessarily the final limits of what the Human Being is meant to become.

This is why the spiritual journey is also a journey of expansion.

What Does the Timeless Mean?

The Timeless does not simply mean living for a very long time.

It points toward a state of consciousness that is not imprisoned by our usual ideas of past, present, and future.

Many people live almost entirely in the past.

“I was hurt.”

“I failed.”

“I lost something.”

“I made a terrible mistake.”

Others live in the future.

“One day I will change.”

“One day I will become spiritual.”

“One day I will forgive.”

“One day I will begin.”

But spiritual transformation can only begin now.

The past can teach us, but it does not have to imprison us.

The future can inspire us, but we should not use it to delay our transformation.

Every present moment can become a doorway toward the Timeless.

Do Not Let the Past Become Your Identity

One simple way to begin moving beyond the limitations of time is to stop making the past your permanent identity.

You may have made mistakes. Learn from them.

You may have hurt someone. Make amends where possible.

You may have experienced pain. Transform that experience into understanding and compassion.

You may have lived for years in a certain way. That does not mean you must remain that way forever.

The past is part of your journey. It does not have to become the prison of your consciousness.

Transformation means that what happened yesterday can become wisdom today.

What Does the Boundless Mean?

In ordinary life we say: “I am here, and you are there.” This is true on the physical level.

But spiritually, this way of thinking can become a deeper sense of separation:

“This is my life.”

“That is your problem.”

“These are my people.”

“Those people have nothing to do with me.”

The teaching of the Boundless asks us to expand beyond this narrow consciousness.

It does not mean that physical distance disappears.

It means that the heart begins to become wider than the boundaries created by the personality.

The suffering of another person begins to matter.

The progress of another person becomes something we can celebrate.

Humanity begins to feel less like a collection of strangers and more like a greater Whole to which we also belong.

The “Everywhere” Begins With Unity

We often divide reality into:

inside and outside,

me and you,

mine and yours,

sacred and ordinary,

God and humanity.

The teaching of Unity asks us to look deeper.

Different forms do not necessarily mean separate essence.

The Divine Presence cannot be limited by the boundaries of our own understanding.

God is not present only when we feel spiritual.

God is not present only in places we call sacred.

Light does not stop existing because we cannot see it.

The Infinite cannot be contained inside the limits of the human mind.

The spiritual journey therefore asks us to stop trying to make God fit inside our personal ideas.

The Destiny of the Human Being Is the Infinite

The destiny of the Human Being is in terms of the All-Time, the All-Space, and the Infinite.

This gives spiritual growth a much greater meaning.

We are not simply trying to become slightly better versions of our present personalities.

Moral improvement is important, but the spiritual calling goes deeper.

Human consciousness is called to expand: from selfishness toward service,

from separation toward Unity,

from limited love toward greater Love,

from personal will toward harmony with Divine Will,

from ordinary human consciousness toward Christification.

The Infinite is not something the ego can possess.

It is something that gradually dissolves the ego’s narrow boundaries.

The Mind Cannot Possess the Infinite

When we hear the word “Infinite,” the mind immediately tries to understand it.

But every picture the mind creates has some kind of boundary.

The Infinite cannot be placed inside a definition and then possessed as knowledge.

We approach it by gradually removing the limitations within ourselves.

Whenever I say:

“Only I am right,”

I create a boundary.

Whenever I say:

“I can love only these people,”

I create a boundary.

Whenever I believe:

“God can work only in the way I understand,”

I create a boundary.

Whenever I say:

“I can never change,”

I create a boundary.

The journey toward the Infinite begins when these inner walls start to fall.

Do Not Reject the Human in Order to Find the Divine

The path toward the Infinite is not a rejection of human life.

We are asked to recognize the Divine Essence while still accepting the human form through which life is presently expressed.

This is important.

We do not reach God by hating the human being.

We do not reach the spiritual by despising the physical world.

We learn to look through the outer form and recognize something deeper.

We learn to see ourselves with greater understanding.

And we learn to look at another person—not only at their mistakes, personality, or weaknesses—but also at the deeper spiritual possibility within them.

This becomes an exercise in Love.

Love Is One of the Ways We Approach the Infinite

What does it mean to speak about boundlessness if our heart has room for only a few people?

What does it mean to speak about the Infinite if our love disappears the moment someone hurts us?

What does it mean to speak about Divine Presence everywhere if we believe God can be present only in people who think like us?

The expansion of consciousness must also become an expansion of Love.

Our love becomes less possessive.

Less selective.

Less centered on what we receive.

It becomes more inclusive.

This does not mean approving every action.

It means refusing to reduce another human being only to their mistakes.

As Love expands, the limited human consciousness begins to open toward the Infinite.

Greater Consciousness Brings Greater Responsibility

The path toward the Infinite is not an escape from responsibility.

It brings greater responsibility.

The teaching connects humanity’s destiny with harmony with the Laws of Creation and with the transformation of disharmony.

This means that our thoughts, words, and actions matter.

If I understand more, I become responsible for using that understanding wisely.

If I receive Light, I become responsible for how I express it.

If I recognize Unity, I become responsible for not creating unnecessary separation.

Spiritual expansion is not given so that we can feel superior.

We expand so that we can serve more.

Transform What You Have Created

The spiritual path also asks us to correct what we have created through wrong thoughts and actions.

If you have hurt someone, try to repair what can be repaired.

If you created division, become a source of reconciliation.

If you spread fear, begin to offer peace.

If your words wounded, learn to use your words to heal.

If you acted selfishly, learn to give.

This is transformation.

We do not escape our past.

We transform what can be transformed and learn from what cannot be changed.

In this way, even our mistakes can become material for spiritual growth.

Let Your Heart Become Wider

There is a very simple way to think about the Boundless:

How much can your heart contain?

Can it contain only your family?

Only your friends?

Only people who agree with you?

Can it also contain someone who is different?

Someone who does not understand you?

Someone who is still living in confusion?

Can you continue to recognize their humanity even when you cannot accept their behavior?

As the heart expands, it becomes less limited by the narrow boundaries of the personal self.

This is one practical beginning of spiritual boundlessness.

From “Me” to the Greater Human Being

As long as our spiritual life is centered only on ourselves, we remain inside a small circle:

my problems,

my healing,

my progress,

my spiritual experiences,

my salvation.

As consciousness expands, our prayer also changes.

Instead of praying only:

“Give me Light,”

we can pray:

“Bring Light to humanity, and within humanity, bring Light to me.”

Instead of asking only for our own healing, we begin to pray for the healing of separation within humanity.

Instead of wanting spiritual growth only for ourselves, we offer our growth in service to the Whole.

The personal “I” begins to discover the greater Human Being.

Christification Is Transformation, Not Personal Greatness

These teachings ultimately point toward Christification.

This does not mean gaining spiritual powers so that the personality can become important.

It means transformation.

More Love.

More Truth.

More Unity.

More Grace.

More Service.

More responsibility.

If the idea of spiritual expansion makes us feel superior to others, we have created another limitation.

If it makes us more humble, more loving, and more willing to serve, then the teaching is beginning to become real within us.

The Infinite is not a crown for the ego.

It is the gradual breaking of the ego’s walls.

Prayer as an Opening Toward the Infinite

Prayer can become more than asking God for things.

Prayer can become an opening of consciousness.

We may pray:

Infinite Father,
show me the limits I create within myself.

Show me where I limit Love.

Show me where I remain trapped in the past.

Show me where I mistake my personal understanding for the whole Truth.

Show me where I exclude others from my heart.

Help me to expand—

not so that I may become greater than others,

but so that I may contain more of humanity within my Love.

Help me transform what needs transformation.

Help me serve the Whole.

Help me move from separation toward Unity,

from fear toward Love,

and from the limited self toward the Infinite Life.

A Simple Daily Practice

Each day, we can examine three kinds of limitation.

Ask yourself:

What part of my past am I still allowing to control who I am today?

Then ask:

Who have I placed outside my love or compassion?

And finally:

Where am I choosing my personal ego instead of Unity, Love, or Service?

Choose one small act of transformation.

Forgive.

Apologize.

Repair something.

Help someone.

Release an old judgment.

Pray for another person.

Choose understanding instead of condemnation.

In this way, ideas such as the Timeless, the Boundless, and the Infinite stop being only mystical concepts.

They become a way of living.

The Spiritual Destiny of the Human Being

The message of these teachings is that our present limitations are not our final spiritual destiny.

We live in time, yet we are called toward the All-Time.

We live in space, yet we are called toward the All-Space.

We experience ourselves as separate personalities, yet we are called toward Unity.

We know ourselves through limited human consciousness, yet the path opens toward the Infinite and toward Christification.

But we do not reach the Infinite by rejecting the limited.

We transform it.

Do not reject time.

Make each moment sacred.

Do not reject your human life.

Use it as a field of spiritual transformation.

Do not try to escape the world in order to discover the Boundless.

Expand your Love until it crosses the boundaries created by the ego.

Do not search for the Infinite as personal greatness.

Allow the Infinite to make you more loving, more humble, more united, and more willing to serve.

And gradually, the human being begins to move from:

“I am only this separate self, here and now,”

toward a deeper awareness:

I live within the One Life.
I belong to the greater Human Being.
My path is Love.
My work is transformation.
My movement is toward Unity.
