LOVE THAT TRANSFORMS AND RESPONSIBILITY THAT LIBERATES

Love is the Divine Power that transforms the limitations of human existence, while conscious responsibility is the human response that allows this Love to become a living reality. We are called to allow Love to dissolve whatever limits our consciousness and to assume responsibility for expressing what we have come to recognize as Truth.

The Love That Dissolves and the Courage That Takes Responsibility

We often turn to God’s Love the way a tired child turns to an embrace: to be soothed, comforted, given rest. And Love receives us. But Love is not only a caress. It is a creative force, and before it can create, it first dissolves.

Love Does Not Fit Our Measures

Each of us carries an image of what love is: a certain tenderness, a certain behavior, a particular kind of care. Through these images we recognize love, but through them we also narrow it. Whatever part of Love fits our mold, we accept. Whatever does not fit, such as a difficulty that exposes us, a truth that hurts, or an event that topples our certainties, we push away. We fail to see that this, too, was Love.

So without meaning to, we “filter” God. We keep what suits us and leave out what could transform us. That is why the heart underperforms and our union with others remains half-complete, however hard we try.

The first step, then, is not to ask for more Love. It is to change the measures by which we judge it, so that we can hold it as it truly is.

Love Goes Where We Refuse to Go

Within us are “rooms” we never open. We only suspect them when, in moments of tension, something erupts from inside and startles us. There lie the foundations of illusion: old fears, hidden judgments, selfishness dressed up as virtue.

We can spend a lifetime wrestling with the effects of our inner conflicts. But unless we reach the root from which they draw their strength, nothing truly changes. Only Love can lead us there without crushing us. Only Love can shine on illusion, take it apart, and show it to us, while remaining unchanged itself.

From Corruption to Incorruption

What is corruption? Whatever cuts itself off from the Whole and functions in separation. Every division, within us or between us, is corruption.

There is something deeper still. The elements of corruption have no light of their own; they shine only with borrowed light. To live, they borrow strength, and they borrow it from us, from our divine being. When we seek Love on our own terms, when we expect God to appear in the way we have decided, we end up feeding illusion instead of transforming it.

Transformation is not the destruction of what is corruptible. It is its return to Unity. Whatever is immersed in divine Love and finds its balance there stops taking life and begins to give it. What once shone with borrowed light becomes a source of light.

Prayer Carries What Came Before It

Our prayer is not only its words. It carries the whole background of thoughts, feelings, and experiences that gave birth to it. That is why we sometimes receive something that does not resemble what we asked for: we receive what our request actually contained. Before every prayer it is worth asking: what am I carrying inside what I am asking for?

From Receiving to Taking Responsibility

We come to spiritual gatherings because there we feel the Light touching us. This is natural, and in the first steps it is necessary to receive a great deal. But a moment comes when receiving without offering anything of our own becomes inertia.

The path has stages. First we simply receive. Then we circulate: we take in, we are activated, we give something back. Yet even this exchange is not yet union, because it breaks at our first disharmony. The passage into true union has a name: taking responsibility. It means transforming fear and timidity into creative action. It means offering to the person who is in need without first waiting to feel “full,” setting in motion ourselves the inner processes that give birth to life.

Our timidity rarely shouts. It often hides behind polite participation. We show up and help with whatever does not bind us too much, as long as someone else carries the responsibility. Deep down, the obstacle is one: we have not truly believed that God fits within us, that we can be deified.

Two Subtle Traps

The first trap is making effort an end in itself. When we say “all I can do is try,” effort becomes a frame we never dare to step beyond. Effort is the road, not the destination. Our gaze stays on the goal, which is union, and everything else we meet along the way.

The second trap is a beautiful, comfortable peace. A stage of relative harmony, with enough grace that we never feel empty, can become a prison. Every new state, however expanded, if it is not the Infinite, is itself another “establishment” that will one day need to be dissolved. If we settle into it, it slowly isolates us from other people and, without our noticing, from God.

Responsibility as the Courage to Err

The ancient commandment not to take God’s name in vain gains new depth here. We do not use the Divine, nor the Teacher who guides us, to serve our own needs and enjoy laurels while offering nothing of substance.

There is also a consoling truth. You are not a good steward of Grace simply because you never use it and therefore never make mistakes. Grace reveals who we are only when we put it to work. If we err, our responsibility is to have the courage and openness to learn from the mistake, not to stay still so we never make one.

Love and responsibility, then, are one. Our responsibility is measured by how much we love those beside us, and responsibility can only be taken up out of love.

For Daily Practice

  • When you ask for Love, notice whether you are asking only for comfort. Ask also for the light that reveals.
  • When something erupts from within you, don’t rush to “fix” it. Ask: which closed room did it come from?
  • Before you pray, ask: what am I carrying inside what I am asking for?
  • Measure your progress not by how much light you received, but by how much room you made today for the person beside you.
  • Find one responsibility you avoid for fear of getting it wrong. Take it on, and accept that the mistake will be your teacher.

Prayer

Love that does not fit my measures, enter where I have not dared to let You in.

Show me the foundations of my illusion without crushing me.

Whatever lives in me apart, make it part of the Whole again.

Whatever borrows my light, make it light.

Give me the courage to carry my share of responsibility, to give before I feel full, to err and to learn.

And whatever I receive from You, let it become life for the one who walks beside me. Amen.

Infinite Father, Source of Life, Love, and Truth,

Infinite Logos, Mother of Life,

I turn my consciousness toward Your Divine Unity.

Teach me to recognize Love not merely as an emotion,

but as a creative function of Being.

Illuminate the entrenched patterns I have established within myself.

The beliefs that limit me.

The prejudices that separate me.

The attachments that bind me to corruption.

The habits that distance me from Truth.

May Love act as Light within my consciousness,

not to destroy Life,

but to transmute everything that prevents its fuller manifestation.

Father, I acknowledge my fears.

I acknowledge my timidity.

I acknowledge the moments when I waited to receive more, although I was already capable of offering.

I acknowledge the responsibilities I postponed,

the truths I avoided,

and the acts of Love I failed to perform.

I do not seek to condemn myself.

I seek to be transformed.

Teach me to transmute fear into conscious courage.

Timidity into creative action.

Indifference into Offering.

Pride into humility.

Intolerance into understanding.

Separation into Unity.

May I no longer seek only to receive Divine nourishment.

May I learn to activate consciously what has already been given to me.

May I no longer seek only Light.

May I learn to express it.

May I no longer seek only Love.

May I learn to offer it.

May I no longer seek only strength.

May I learn to use it responsibly.

Father, teach me the meaning of true Sacrifice.

To relinquish whatever restricts Love.

To offer without seeking superiority.

To serve without imposing.

To work without constantly seeking recognition.

To accept the responsibilities that are truly mine.

I bless Humanity.

I bless every being struggling with fear.

Every person who hesitates before responsibility.

Every person seeking Light.

Every person in need of Love.

May my own life become a small but genuine contribution to the transmutation of disharmony.

May my thoughts become clearer.

My heart more expansive.

My words more unifying.

My will more steadfast.

My actions more creative.

May Love be my guide.

Offering my compass.

Responsibility my conscious choice.

And Theosis the sacred orientation of my spiritual journey.

Amen.
